The 5th MICROMINE Russian Summit was held on 28 July – 4 August 2017. All MICROMINE staff participate in a week long, action packed week, full of strategic planning, ideation for the year ahead and team building activities. As a growing region, increasing staff and opening new offices, collaboration and planning is vital for quality and productive work.
The summit, now in its fifth year, is our yearly internal team building event. It is symbolic that this year the trip was held in Georgia, the country where customs such as these are especially honoured. The benefit of the annual summit assists staff across divisions to work together effectively as a team, especially by means of activities and events designed to increase motivation and promote cooperation.
Every year the format of the summit changes slightly, but this year was the biggest in it’s short history. The event was rich in activities including; corporate presentations, department meetings, the exchange of ideas and experiences and most importantly team building. The summit also marked the end of the financial year (FY ends in Australian companies on the 31st of June), so all departments provided yearly results and achievements along with outlining further steps for development.
Whilst much of the time over the week is dedicated to official meetings and discussion, there is always time for fun! The staff participated in informal communication and different sporting challenges which really helped to unite the team and everyone had a very positive experience.
One of the main tasks challenged the team to a five-kilometer race #givemefive which most staff took part in. The race was the biggest in the company’s history, with many reaching personal records. Team rafting on the mountain river and horse riding, were also utilised as team building activities. As for intellectual sports activities: we held a small chess tournament to challenge the keen minds at MICROMINE Russia. Finally a trip to the beach was accompanied by some swimming and volleyball, which we love very much and play weekly during the year.
The annual event has now become the brightest and one of the most important events for the MICROMINE Russian team. More than ever, the team is full of strength and optimism and ready for all the new challenges and projects ahead in FY18.
