Pitram Account Manager, Tyler Raleigh and Senior Pitram Systems Specialist, Chris Higgins recently travelled to MMG’s Rosebery site to meet with MMG staff to better understand their current requirements and assist with their fleet management and mine control challenges.
Rosebery is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in Tasmania, Australia. Located approximately 300 km north-west of Hobart and 125 km south of Burnie, it has operated continuously since 1936 with a current expected mine life of 2023.
Zinc, lead and copper concentrates and gold ore are produced at Rosebery using mechanised underground mining methods and crushing, grinding and flotation processes. Operating since 2012 with an emphasis on data integrity, Pitram allows Rosebery site operators and management to record, manage and process mine site data in real-time.
The purpose of the visit was to provide training for Rosebery’s Pitram operators, production engineers, drill and blast engineers and geologists and covered technical issues, faults and problems, workflows, best practice procedures and how to use the data and reporting more effectively. The team also presented an overview of the benefits of Pitram’s 24/7 global support, tailored to ensure maximum return on their software investment.
A key challenge the Rosebery site has faced is the speed of data processing within Pitram after each shift, sometimes taking upwards of an hour to process minesite data. After conducting database maintenance, the Pitram team were able to reduce this to just 15mins, saving time and increasing efficiencies for the business. Database maintenance also alleviated some of the troubleshooting and tracing errors encountered by the geology team. Coaching on cube data availability and existing reports was provided to facilitate improvement projects. Geology can now update existing daily reports to pull grade data directly from Pitram removing manual copy/paste actions, saving time each day.
“It was a really productive trip to Rosebery and it was great to meet with the team to better understand some of their needs and how we can provide the best possible support. We look forward to working closely with MMG in the future to assist with increasing efficiencies across their operations” Pitram Account Manager Tyler Raleigh commented.
