“Ni Hao!” Chinese language version of Geobank launches

MICROMINE’s market-leading data management solution Geobank is proving popular with Chinese mining and exploration companies – prompting the inclusion of Chinese language functionality in the latest Geobank release.

“With an increasing number of Chinese clients using our mining software solutions, it makes sense to offer Geobank in simplified Chinese,” said Geobank Product Strategy Manager Ian Whitehouse.

“Geobank is fast becoming one of the market-leading data management solutions being used by the exploration and mining sector in China. It’s important that we cater to the needs of our clients in the region and offer the best possible functionality.”

The data management solution enables miners to capture, validate and manage geological data across their exploration activities, whilst maintaining the quality, integrity and usability of their essential mining data. Now that functionality will be available in Chinese.

Available as part of the Geobank service pack 5, which was released in June, Chinese joins existing English and Russian language options in the user interface.

Accessing the language options is simple. Users select the language required (English, Russian or Chinese) under the Options section of the program, re-start, and the interface is seamlessly translated.

“Providing the software in simplified Chinese enables our clients across all parts of mainland China and its territories, and Chinese miners operating in other parts of the world, to access Geobank’s functionality in a familiar language,” said Mr Whitehouse.

“As the software is easier to comprehend, it makes it easier to use. And this makes our clients’ jobs more efficient.”

Ensuring that feedback from its global client base informs the features and functionality of its suite of intuitive mining solutions – which span the entire mining cycle from geological exploration and data management to resource estimation, 3D mine design, planning and production control – is a priority for MICROMINE.

“Our aim is to make our clients’ jobs easier. We do this by constantly innovating and enhancing our product offering to ensure it meets the evolving needs of users,” Mr Whitehouse said.

Adding Chinese language functionality to the Geobank product is just one example of how MICROMINE identifies client needs and then delivers solutions.
