Pitram achieves this through its surface optimiser. The optimiser automatically calculates the best allocation to ensure that up-to-date decisions are made whenever a truck arrives at the entrance to a pit for example. Priorities can be established by sites for their equipment fleet via configurable parameters that are set by the mine manager. These priorities are then fed into the optimisation algorithm that considers factors like fleet size and number, distances and current GPS position to optimise the allocation of the haul fleet to loading units. This allows the control room operator to make recommendations regarding task delegation or relay information to machine operators, therefore reducing radio traffic, minimising the workload of operators and increasing mining efficiency of the operation.
Live data transfer
The surface optimiser requires a wireless network to operate and Pitram mobile devices to be installed on hauling and loading equipment to assist with the collection and automatic processing of data to the control room. Pitram mobile enables machine operators to capture production data manually via its touchscreen or automatically via integration with on-board systems. Data is then uploaded to the Pitram server whenever the vehicle is in range of the wireless network. The control room is then able to ensure the operation’s mining efficiency by making real-time decisions.
