Safety and efficiency enhancement with our mining collision avoidance solution
A mining collision avoidance solution is essential when operating heavy machinery in the confined spaces of a mine site, as the margin for error is incredibly small. Misuse of equipment can not only result in the operation being delayed but in extreme situations can end in injury or possible death. In order to manage machinery on-site, operations utilise a mining collision avoidance solution that tracks the current location of equipment and relays that information to the control room.
MICROMINE’s fleet management and mine control solution, Pitram, is a mining collision avoidance solution used by mining operations worldwide. Pitram records equipment data and transfers it to the control room which assists with reducing possible collisions. Pitram users can use one or a combination of applications to further reduce the likelihood of an accident.
Mine site data control
Pitram’s fleet management system supports the transmission, collection and receipt of data across your equipment via a Pitram mobile or tablet device. These devices are installed in the machine’s cabin and allow operators to capture production data manually via the touchscreen or automatically by integrating with on-board systems. Data captured via a mobile or tablet device is then automatically uploaded to the Pitram server whenever it is within range of a Wi-Fi network. Pitram mobile is also a prerequisite for the implementation of various Pitram connectors. The control room is then able to use the data transmitted to keep track of their various equipment in use. Pitram will provide warnings and alerts when equipment exceeds speed limits or enters the proximity of another machine, allowing operators and the supervisors to adjust accordingly to avoid a collision or accident.

Mining collision avoidance solution: optimising fleets through safe working zones
Pitram’s machine guidance is another mining collision avoidance solution that operations can use to reduce the likelihood of accidents. Machine guidance has been designed to improve the safe working of equipment by establishing avoidance zones. These zones are designed to keep machines in safe working boundaries and away from any potential dangers. Similarly to the fleet management system, if a machine breaches its safe working zone then the operator and control room are alerted to this, allowing alterations to be made in order to avoid a collision. Pitram is able to achieve this through its integration with Carlson Software’s high precision GPS software and hardware which provides highly accurate measurement capabilities.
With such a strong focus on safety in the mining industry, employing a mining collision avoidance solution like Pitram is key to ensuring the continued safety of employees.
