Last week, MICROMINE representatives from all around the world united at the 2019 Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada Convention in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. There was a continuous stream of attendees roaming the hallways of the Toronto Convention Center, with PDAC 2019 hosting 25,843 attendees from more than 135 countries – making it the world’s leading mineral exploration and mining convention.
PDAC has always been an exhibition priority for MICROMINE Canada, as it attracts a diverse mix of attendees including prospectors, investors, geologists, mining engineers, mining company executives and government officials. It also gives us the opportunity to check the pulse of the global mining industry and to learn about upcoming trends. PDAC 2019 also had a surprise visitor, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who talked about how Canada is extremely well positioned to continue its engagement with the global mining economy.
MICROMINE had demonstrations booked back to back for most of the tradeshow, providing our specialists with an opportunity to present Micromine 2020 to current clientele, showing them how their continuous input has influenced the new version of the software, and introducing Micromine’s abilities to attendees who were curious about the product. We saw a surge of interest in Geobank 2018, particularly Geobank Mobile, with attendees being amazed by its comprehensive, yet user friendly features.
Although most demonstrations were focused on Micromine 2020 and Geobank/Geobank Mobile 2018, it was our Pitram’s Artificial Intelligence loader that stole the show. Making its’ first tradeshow appearance, the remote-controlled Load, Haul & Dump AI loader circled around our booth with a camera on top connected to Pitram. The lego-designed device loaded rocks into the truck at our booth, while observers saw the results from the neural network live on the mobile tablet. Audiences were impressed by our technology and huddled around the MICROMINE booth while demonstrations were taking place, resulting in an increase of inquiries regarding MICROMINE products.
“Our participation at PDAC has been vastly successful. We see a lot of momentum in the industry and there is a very clear need for intuitive and innovative software solutions like the Micromine, Geobank and Pitram software for which MICROMINE is known. It’s exciting because we are filling a gap that the market has, and we have the tools the industry needs,” Amélie St-Onge, Regional Manager for MICROMINE Canada.
Another year, another successful PDAC for MICROMINE. Watch out for us on the tradeshow floor in 2020, we will be bigger and better than ever!
