Micromine Training: Introduction to Micromine

If you are new to Micromine, or have not used it for a while, our two day Introductory course will get you started. Covering the basics of Micromine, this course systematically introduces all the key features of the software as you work through a typical exploration project.

Introduction to Micromine will teach you to use the basics of your Micromine software. The two day course is for new and returning users, or managers who need a basic level of understanding to interact with their technical staff. The course introduces Micromine’s key features by working through a familiar scenario:

A newly acquired exploration project requires the software user to import and assess the data in order to make recommendations on future drilling. Key Features that will be introduced include data entry and importing, visual integration of different 2D and 3D data using the Vizex (Visual Explorer) interface, generating drill hole sections and producing printed output.

What will I learn?

 Upon completion of the course, you will know how to:

  • Manage Micromine projects
  • Create and manipulate Micromine files
  • Understand and use Micromine’s form sets to save dialog entries
  • Enter data into Micromine from a variety of sources including text files, CAD and GIS data, databases, and keyboard data entry
  • Understand and use Micromine’s keyboard data entry shortcuts to speed up and improve the accuracy of keyboard data entry
  • Validate drillhole and general purpose data
  • Use the built-in calculator to complete calculations on a file
  • Understand and use filters to subset the data of interest
  • Understand and use the Vizex (Visual Explorer) user interface and its various tools
  • Understand and create a drillhole database
  • Interact in 3D with the Vizex window
  • Create and plot a multi-layered Vizex display incorporating geochemical sample locations, property boundaries, aerial photography, GIS data and a digital terrain model (DTM)
  • Create and plot a series of vertical drill sections incorporating multiple layers of downhole data
  • Understand and use the Vizex-based Plot Editor to configure a plot layout
  • Understand and use the Vizex spatial editing tools to construct a series of sectional drillhole interpretations
  • Optionally, create a 3D fly-through to communicate technical project data to a non-technical audience
  • Construct a basic wireframe solid from the sectional interpretations
  • Understand and use a macro to automate Micromine

Prerequisites

 Experience with the Windows operating system, including user interface interaction (double-click, right-click, use of Windows, icons and menus) and file management (creating files and directories, using Windows Explorer).

How long is the course?

 2 days. All participants will receive comprehensive training notes and training data on disk, with the option of purchasing a hard copy manual. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
