Micromine Training: Geostatistics & Kriging

The advanced courses are for experienced users who want to achieve ‘best practice’ use of Micromine. The skills acquired in these courses will enable trainees to use all of the functions that are relevant to their needs, maximising their individual productivity levels.

Build upon your Block Modelling knowledge and learn about the concepts required to build a geostatistical resource model. With an emphasis on the practical applications of geostatistics and kriging and delivered with minimal jargon and theory, this is the course for those who prefer a hands on approach to learning.

Geostatistics and Kriging is available as a third day extension following the two day Block Modelling course.

What will I learn?

Upon completion of the course, you will:

  • Understand the concept of and spatial correlation know how to quantify it
  • Construct an experimental semi-variogram by choosing the appropriate lag interval and number of lags
  • Understand and fit a theoretical semi-variogram model, including defining directions and anisotropy
  • Understand the semi-variogram modelling workflow, beginning with a downhole semi-variogram and ending with a three-directional anisotropic variogram model
  • Understand semi-variogram validation including least squares error and cross-validation
  • Understand and know when to use ordinary kriging versus other kriging methods

Who is it suitable for?

 Micromine users who have advanced knowledge of Micromine and are able to carry out sophisticated block modelling tasks.

Prerequisites

 Attendees must have completed the two day Block Modelling course or be able to demonstrate an advanced level of Micromine knowledge.

How long is the course?

1 day.

Delivered as a third day extension of the Block Modelling course.

All participants will receive comprehensive training notes and training data on disk, with the option of purchasing a hard copy manual. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
