Micromine Training: Exploration

Micromine’s two day Exploration course provides users with the skills required to derive the maximum benefit from their Micromine solution. The skills acquired in this course will enable trainees to use all of the functions that are relevant to their needs, maximising their individual productivity levels.

This course teaches you how to use the Micromine tools that are specific to exploration work.

What will I learn?

Upon completion of the course, you will know how to:

  • Get more from your drillhole data
  • Calculate drilling statistics and extract summarised downhole data
  • Composite drillhole data and perform other drillhole calculations
  • Create drillhole logs
  • Work with oriented drillhole structural data
  • Plan drillholes with a fixed collar, a known target or both
  • Calculate simple 2D grade-tonnage values
  • Construct a sectional geological interpretation of a surface or solid
  • Construct an oxidation surface DTM (digital terrain model) from drillhole data
  • Create and use a topographic DTM to generate elevations in other data
  • Use the advanced Vizex Pie Chart and Contour objects
  • Merge laboratory assay data from a SIF (standard interchange file) source
  • Validate data using lookup tables and colour sets
  • Create advanced filters
  • Create interpolated grids and contours
  • Automate a task by writing a macro incorporating advanced macro features
  • Understand the statistical concepts of mean, mode, median, standard deviation and variance, and use these to describe a data set
  • Use a histogram and probability plot to describe and statistically decompose a data set
  • Create a Micromine colour set from a statistical decomposition and use this to apply colour in both graphical and tabular views

Who is it suitable for?

 Micromine users who are confident with the basics of Micromine and are involved in the exploration process.

Prerequisites

 All attendees must have completed the Introduction to Micromine course or demonstrate a familiarity with the basics of Micromine.

How long is the course?

2 days.

All participants will receive comprehensive training notes and training data on disk, with the option of purchasing a hard copy manual. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
