Geobank Training: Professional

The Geobank Professional course is a Level 2 course. It is designed for geologists and exploration managers who use Geobank’s Drillhole Utilities module.

The course teaches you how to use the Geobank tools that are specific to the management of drill hole and exploration data. These include the depth adjustment tool; downhole desurvey; coordinate transformations; compositing; compositing zone definition; plan views; section diagrams and site lists.

What will I learn?

Upon completion of the course, you will be familiar with the Geobank Drillhole Utilities module, as well as having the skills to:

  • Utilise the Geobank Depth Adjustment tool (for example, to adjust depths in the lithological data based on downhole geophysics)
  • Insert or split Intervals to log more detail. Fill gaps in logged data
  • Use the Geobank Downhole Desurvey utility to generate a text file of X, Y, Z coordinates from downhole deviation surveys
  • Set up and use interpolation to generate 3D coordinates (for mid-points of samples as an example)
  • Work with symbology and hatch patternsSet up plan views for drill hole projects or geochemical surface sampling projects
  • Manage data relating to spatial extents (for example lease boundaries)
  • Generate correlation diagrams
  • Configure a drillhole section diagram
  • Import geophysical data in LAS file format
  • Manage composite zone definitions
  • Create and maintain site lists
  • Manage survey data in a variety of coordinate reference systems
  • Set up local grids or other new coordinate systems

Who is it suitable for?

 This course is designed for users who deal specifically with the management of drill holes and related exploration or mining data.

Prerequisites

 All attendees must have achieved qualification on the Level 1 Introduction to Geobank course or have shown competence in using Geobank. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

How long is the course?

 1 day. All participants will receive comprehensive training notes and training data on disk with the option of purchasing a hard copy manual. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

What style do the courses take?

 Class sizes are usually eight or less participants. This gives plenty of opportunity for individual attention. Hands-on exercises are provided at every stage during the course. Exercises use a broad-based training dataset to highlight common and familiar scenarios. For post-implementation in-house courses, the training can be customised to use your own data.
